Liverpool crane collapse: HSE issues report
News | HSP
05.08.2008
As part of its ongoing investigation into a fatal crane collapse in Liverpool last year, the HSE has written to every crane hire and supply firm in the country with the findings of its technical report.
In January 2007, a luffing jib crane on hire from Falcon Crane Hire collapsed in Liverpool city centre, killing a worker and seriously injuring the crane driver.
On 8 July, an inquest returned a verdict of accidental death.
The HSE's technical report asks those with control over the design and integrity of luffing cranes to examine their designs and existing machines to "decide whether the findings of this report have significant implications; and develop an action plan for dealing with any identified issues."
The report can be downloaded here.
The HSE's investigation into the incident is continuing.
