The High Court has awarded a former City worker who was bullied by her colleagues £817,000 in damages. Helen Green suffered two mental breakdowns after what the judge described as "a relentless campaign of mean and spiteful behaviour" by four female colleagues at Deutsche Bank between 1997 and 2001. The judge ruled that Green's employer was in breach of its duty of care and that her line managers "knew or ought to have known" what was happening. Last month the House of Lords decided that employers can be held vicariously liable for bullying by workers (see page 2).
