Garage pitfall

Prosecutions and Claims |
01.11.2006

Vehicle repairer Channel Commercials has been fined £10,000 plus £4,000 by Sevenoaks magistrates for failing to protect David Paling, an HGV driver who fell into an unguarded wash pit at the company's Ashford depot in Kent, fracturing his shoulder, spraining his ankle and gashing his head.

The HSE had warned the company about the unguarded pit only a month before the incident.
