Ladder-gate

News | HSW
01.03.2007

Following a media storm over the use - or misuse - of ladders to change smoke detectors, the HSE has issued a clarification of the "three points of contact" rule and reiterated its view that ladders and stepladders should only be used after a risk assessment has ruled out safer methods of working.

Further guidance on ladder use is available in the feature on page 26 of this issue and at www.hse.gov.uk/falls/usingladders/threepointsclarify.htm?ebul=hsegen/22-jan-07&cr=4
