Report published on extension of corporate killing law
News | HSP
23.07.2008
The government has published a report detailing the progress made so far on preparing for the extension of the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act to cover deaths in custody.
Most of the Act's provisions came into force in April, but the government successfully argued for more time (three to five years) for custody providers to prepare for implementation.
Section 10 of the Act, which covers publicity orders, will come into force after the Sentencing Guidelines Council issues its guidance later this year.
The report, Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007: Progress Towards Implementation of Custody Provisions, can be downloaded here.
