Incapacity barrier

News | HSW
01.06.2006

Almost one in five employers would not employ incapacity benefit (IB) claimants who have suffered mental health problems. This is the finding of the latest quarterly survey of 1,000 businesses by accountants KPMG and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. One in 10 would not employ IB claimants with a history of physical ill health. The charity the Mental Health Foundation has called on government for better enforcement of the Disability Discrimination Act.
