Re: Ethical PPE
We don't have a policy on ethical procurement, we have enough problems ensuring that PPE actually conforms to the standards stated on the label. Bring back the kite mark, the CE mark is absolutely worthless as it is only a company's declaration that the product conforms however there is no independent check. Very few companies are big enough to buy direct from the manufacturers and we have to ask our suppliers to obtain evidence of compliance from the manufacturers. This will be the problem with ethical purchasing of any type, the manufacturers will happily say anything to sell their goods and the purchaser will normally have no way of checking.

Ethical PPE

Does anyone work in an organisation that asks its PPE suppliers if they check the conditions in which their protective gear is manufactured? I'm writing something on the subject and would be glad to know of anybody who has a policy on ethical procurement that extends to PPE or workwear.
