Scanner glitch

News | HSW
01.05.2007

The European Commission is being urged to review health and safety rules laid down in the Electromagnetic Fields Directive, which critics claim could prevent the use in hospitals of magnetic scanners.

Sections of the medical community claim that hospital workers using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines could exceed the limits of exposure set out in the 2004 Directive, which must be translated into UK law by April 2008.
