The HSE publication 'Successful Health and Safety Management' (HSG 65) uses the following formulas:
Annual Injury incident rates (per 100,000 employees):
(Number of reportable injuries in the financial year ÷ average number employed during the year) x 100,000.
Injury Frequency Rate (per million hours worked):
(Number of injuries in the period ÷ total hours worked during the period) x 1,000,000.
