NHS assaults down

Assaults against NHS staff have fallen, according to the NHS Security Management Service. There were 58 695 assaults on NHS staff in England in 2005-6, or one assault per 23 staff, down from one per 22 last year. The number of people prosecuted for assaulting staff rose by 12% from 759 to 850.
