How have the revised CDM regulations bedded down since their introduction?

I've been retired for three and a half years, and have most definitely lost touch with the CDMs. We had a design department who were very heavily involved in CDMs with both our large and small contractors, but I did ...

I agree. The stumbling blocks I've come across is the fact that having set up fairly rigorous procedures for contractors in all the organisations - what they're going to do and how they're going to do it in the form ...

I beleive the regulations have bedded down nicely on the larger projects and most SME`s have embraced the regs.
I dont think they are working to full capacity and i dont think the regs are doing what it says on ...

It is favourable in that it systemises everything. We were doing some building work and I monitored it once a week. At one point, the contractor decided that he didn't want to do what he was supposed to do. He ...

In my experience, it's a mixed bag. There are still a number of clients out there who for whatever reason it may be - lack of knowledge, lack of willingness, poor attitude - where the amended legislation on CDM hasn't ...

The HSE is being stripped of funding and isn't able to do what it used to be able to do.

I appreciate that. This is very broad question for a number of people. Anything we implement in society in the workplace, a procedure or legislation, we have to go through that period of communicating information before we can start to ...

I agree, but going on the facts we should really know at least a little bit about the CDM Regs because they came in in the mid-1990s. If it's bedded down all this time now and we're just doing slight ...

I don't think they bedded down in the first place to be fair.

Well, fair enough, there were lots of rushed elements to it and some confusion over minor points, but the basics - if you read the legislation - are fairly straightforward. It can be done in such a way that you ...

I understand where you're coming from, but I think it's wider than that. It's more to do with implementation. Whether it's due to people's attitude, understanding or knowledge base, the people fulfilling the role of CDM co-ordinator for contractors vary ...

I've only had involvement in CDM where the organisation concerned have had the full input from engineering. The practical side of it has come to the fore and the CDM has been built around the practical side.
