one of the most important aspects of a succesful interview is the preparation you carry out before you arrive.
It is worth thinking about the kind of questions that may be asked, and to practice the way you answer them. When faced with questions regarding experience of health and safety issues it is important to remember that health and safety applies to our private lives as well as our professional ones which means you may be able to use an incedent that occured at school/college or at home that will allow the person who is conducting the interview to assess your understanding of the subject. Briefly describe the incident, it may have happened to yourself or a colleegue, and suggest ways that you feel it could have been avoided, including proceedures that may have prevented the incident from occuring, and any that should be in place to prevent any further occurence of a similsr nature.
Remember that many accidents, large or small ,are often the result of a lack of a proper risk assessment being carried out whether
it be in the workplace or elsewhere, and hopefully the interviewer will appreciate your ability to apply a safety culture within the workplace that will only improve with experience gained in their employ.
