HSE appointed to regulate REACH

The HSE has been appointed by the government as the competent authority for the EU's REACH chemicals regulation in the UK. The HSE has set up an advice line for employers on REACH (tel 0845 408 9575) as part of its new duty to help businesses prepare for their obligations to register the chemical substances they make, import or use in large quantities from next year.
