No EU hours deal

The UK's opt-out from the maximum 48-hour working week has lived to fight another day, after the  EU's Social Affairs Council failed to agree on proposals to scrap the concession. The TUC said ministers' inability to reach a deal was "a missed opportunity to ensure that UK workers are properly protected against the dangers of over-work."
