No charges for officer over shooting

News | HSP
05.01.2008

The Crown Prosecution Service has announced that it will not be bringing any charges against the Thames Valley police officer who accidentally shot a civilian worker during a gun safety lecture last year.

The wounded man, Keith Tilbury, was treated in hospital for injuries to his abdomen. The incident was investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) and its findings were passed to the CPS to consider whether any criminal charges should be brought.

The IPCC has now written to Thames Valley Police to ask for their proposals, if any, on disciplinary action. The HSE is continuing a separate inquiry into possible health and safety breaches.
