YMCA fined for risk assessment inadequacies

Prosecutions and Claims |
01.02.2007

Delegating risk assessment of its new Nottingham premises to an inadequately trained member of staff has cost YMCA England £1,300 in fines and costs. The charity's shop at Eastwood had a raised area of flooring that caused several customers to trip and fall, including one elderly woman who fractured her pelvis and arm. Staff were aware of the unsafe floor after they were alerted  to trip incidents but did not act. The elderly customer who broke two bones is bringing a civil claim against YMCA.
