I agree that there are hidden implications to this recent knee jerk reaction of ministers.
As someone has already raised, broken leg ok you can rule if doctor.
If work related depression, one has to ask, if a doctor says ...

I agree that there are hidden implications to this recent knee jerk reaction of ministers.
As someone has already raised, broken leg ok you can rule if doctor.
If work related depression, one has to ask, if a doctor says "fit for work", and the stress causes adverse reaction (ie deeper depression), who will be responsible if the deeper depression results in a person taking their own life? Will it be the doctor, or the official demanding that "rules are rules"? I think that ministers will be quick to distance themselves from adverse reactions, even though they are of their own making!
Perhaps it is time socety, and particularly government began to look at not just reducing a perceived fiscal burden, but putting in place a sympathetic system able to accurately deal with invalidity.
I have a friend who has had a triple heart by-pass, He looks much fitter than me! But if he is subject to the bureaucratic nightmare which is facing a lot of IB related cases, he could be dead as a result.
Perhaps we should give doctors the respect they deserve,as professionsals, rather than having politicians and officials once again expecting blind obedience to unworkable measures.
