Scots scaffold

News | HSW
01.10.2006

The HSE has issued an information sheet on scaffold design and erection following three major collapses in Scotland. The collapses triggered a series of site visits by inspectors, which revealed sub-standard scaffolds, put up by inexperienced and inadequately trained workers. The information sheet (available at www.hse.gov.uk/scotland/infosheet.htm) has been drawn up in consultation with bodies such as the Construction Industry Training Board and gives a basic checklist of the standards that the HSE expects scaffolding to meet.
