Derby construction firm Best Build has been fined £12,500 plus £1,000 costs for not taking adequate safety measures to protect Neil Nadin, a subcontracted electrician who fell 3m through a rooflight at Blackfordby, near Ashby, in January last year. After the accident, Nadin had an operation to insert pins in his arm. Coalville magistrates heard Best Build had no adequate risk assessment covering work at Boothorpe Hall, and fined the firm £10,000 for failing to protect Nadin and £2,500 for not having guard rails in place. Nadin is bringing a separate civil case against the company.
