Firm fined after rail injury

West Coast Traincare has been fined £13,000 following an incident in which a train ran over a maintenance worker's hand in October 2004, leading to the amputation of all five fingers and two knuckles. West Coast Traincare pleaded guilty to breaching Section 2(1) of the Health and Safety at Work Act at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court for not ensuring the employee's safety. The company was fined £13,000 plus costs of £3,500.
