A Leicester builder's merchant has landed a £44,000 fine and £4,000 costs after its failure to segregate pedestrians and vehicles at its premises.
A customer was hit by a forklift truck, breaking his ankle, as he collected a bag of cement at J Rollings and Son's premises.
Leicester City Council had served an Improvement Notice on the company to improve site transport arrangements, but environmental health officer Ros Seal said there was "no organisation on site at all" on the day of the accident. On 27 September, the company pleaded guilty to four charges of failing to maintain a safe workplace and failing to protect its employees and others.
