Prosecutions and Claims |
04.09.2008
Wholesaler Makro Self Service has been prosecuted after a shopper at its Kirkby outlet broke her arm.
The 57-year-old woman couldn't work for six weeks after the incident in March 2007.
Knowsley Council inspectors visited the store and found a hole in the floor, which had been packed with cardboard and covered in tape. The tape looked very worn.
Makro pleaded guilty before Knowsley magistrates to two offences - under the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations - and was fined £5000 with £2700 costs.
