Corus prosecution

Prosecutions and Claims |
01.03.2006

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has served summons on steelmaker Corus UK for charges following the deaths of three workers at its Port Talbot works in Wales in November 2001.

The three were killed and 12 others injured when a blast furnace exploded after molten metal superheated water that had probably leaked into the furnace.

A coroner's inquest returned a verdict of accidental death last August. The base brought by the HSE is scheduled to start on 12 April at Neath Magistrates' Court.
