The HSE, the Institution of Engineering Technology and the British Computer Society have published guidance to help companies manage the competence of their employees working with electronic safety-related systems (such as electronic machine guards and shutdown systems in the petrochemical industry and offshore). The guidance is designed to help businesses ensure employees at all levels are trained and competent in the safe use and maintenance of automatic safety devices. It is available at www.hse.gov.uk/humanfactors/comah/mancomppt1.pdf
